Wrong Number

We have a land line phone, but the only time I use it is to call my cell phone when it is lost, and the only people who have the number are the telemarketers. Therefore, I usually don't answer the phone when it rings. Sometimes I even just pick up and hang up immediately. But the phone rang at 10:30 tonight...really? That is way too late for telemarketers to be calling. I hopped up to answer it (so it didn't wake up Jackson) and said "Hello?" to the person on the other end of the line, ready to give this telemarketer a piece of my mind for calling so late. Some trying-to-be-suave sounding guy responded on the other end of the line.
Me: Hello?
Guy: Hello...how are you doing tonight?
Me: ummm, good.
Guy: Good, good. So, what have you been up to lately?
Me: Excuse me? Who is this?
Guy: Isn't this Angel?
Me: No.
Guy: Oh, well, who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?
Me: Not Angel.
Guy: Are you sure?
Me: Yep.
Guy: Well then who do I have the pleasure of speaking with? (trying to sound all seductive and suave)
Me: You've got the wrong number.
Guy: What are you up to tonight? Can you talk?
Me: No, not really.
Guy: Do you have company over?
Me: My husband is here.
Guy: Oh. (Sounding shocked and slightly disappointed) Well, who do I have the pleasure of speaking with? (Persistent little creep, eh?)
Me: (Hanging up)

What the weird?

That is mega weird! I love using the "my husband" to shut up creeps, but I can't believe it didn't even phase that guy! Weird!

Maybe you should have said, "Here, you can have the pleasure of speaking to my husband." What a creepy guy (the phone guy, not your husband). I have gotten a text or email on occasion from someone I don't know, but when I say, "How do you know me?" they realize their error and leave me alone.

I hate that kind of stuff. I agree with Becky. It would have been hilarious to hand the phone to Jack!
