Jackson is three weeks old today. These weeks seem to have flown by, but it seems like it's been such a long time at the same time. He's changing so much already. I'll have to post pictures later because if I don't go ahead and post this now, it'll never happen (crazy how such a little person can take up so much time and energy!)
Last Friday (the 22nd) we took Jackson for his 2 week check up and he was up to 7 lbs, 9 oz (7 lbs at birth, 6 lbs 6 oz when we left the hospital) and was 20 1/2 inches (20 at birth). I don't know what he's measuring now, but I'm sure it is quite a bit more---relatively. His legs and arms are starting to get a little chunkier and he's really filling up his newborn sized outfits. Most of the 0-3 month stuff is still too big, but I'm sure it won't be long before they fit.
He looks around a lot. We've got a little fold out book thing with black and white patterns on it that he just loves to stare at (babies see contrast more than anything else at first). He stares at our faces too.
True to form, my dad has been sticking his tongue out at Jackson. Try it next time you're around a 3 week old. If you stick your tongue out at him, he'll mimic you and stick it out too. Hopefully I'll get a video of this tonight before my family leaves in the morning.
We've now had 4 nights with Jackson on our own, without my mom staying with us to help out (she's now staying with the rest of my family who got her on Wednesday for my sister's wedding). The first night was rrreeaaallllllly long. Jackson (and consequently, Jack and I) didn't sleep much. And when he was "asleep" he was making grunting sounds that kept me up. The next night was much better---maybe I was just so tired that I slept through the grunting and squirming, but I did sleep more. Last night Jackson was really stuffy-nosed and couldn't breathe well, so I spent most of the night sleeping sitting up, holding him. He seems to be doing better for the most part...hopefully he won't get sick.
It has been great having a summer baby because I haven't really worried too much about taking him out in public. Then again, maybe I'm just irresponsible. We've been running errands, visiting family & friends, and somewhat carrying on with life as normal. I have to admit, I love having people stop and admire him when we're at a store or something. Yes, he is very cute. I know. And thank you.
I know this is quick and probably kind of boring without pictures, but give me a break---it's the best I can do right now. A friend took pictures of us yesterday so I'll be sure to post those as soon as I get them!

Thanks for the update! One of these days I am going to make that long trek (ok it isn't long,) and come see you guys. Until then, Take care!!
i'm looking forward to trying this tongue-sticking-out thing....
has it been 3 weeks!?!
he is beautiful!
no you are not irresponsible! we took Sophia out so much when we first got her...then when we got home and went to the doctor he said to NOT take her out until she passed her "full-term" status(she was 9 weeks premature) oops! that was a whole nother(is that a word?...oh it should be ANOTHER WHOLE...but i will leave it there for the smile factor) month! She did fine and didn't get sick much at all during the winter! healthy as a horse!
see you soon!
oh...and I LOVED it when people would admire her....and would say she looked like me;)
