Baby! ...
The poll is over, and the results are in. And despite the 10 to 12 for not finding out, we did it anyway. Cause it's our choice, not yours. Sorry. After much discussion and deliberation, I turned to Jack in the middle of sacrament meeting, and, in a very reverent way, whispered "Let's do it! Let's find out!" and then I still went back and forth about 63 times, but not quite as back and forth. We did decide before we got to the doctor's appointment. I didn't want to not make a decision and then just end up finding out because I hadn't decided yet. Some people suggested just having the ultrasound tech girl write down what it was and seal it in an envelope so I could have more time to decide, but that is so anti-climatic. So, we went in for the appointment... I didn't have to have any blood taken or anything, which was a HUGE relief! So, on to the pictures
Just look at that cute profile shot--- our little one is a thumb-sucker alright.

And, lest you were worried, at least one foot has five toes! Isn't that cute??

and.... drum roll please.....
It's a BOY! Our ultrasound tech girl asked if we wanted to know, and I gave as confident of a "yes" as I could muster. She panned around for about two seconds before she found the right angle...and...yep! There you have it! There was absolutely no question about it. I saw it and said "BOY!" before she made the announcement. This picture isn't quite as clear as the video, but ya can still tell. And if you can't tell, trust us.
Jack says he wasn't surprised at all....I guess having 10 nephews born in a row, all under the age of 6, on his side kinda puts the odds in favor of a boy---but then again, it really is 50/50 every time, right? Not in this family, apparently.
I, on the other hand, was (and am) shocked. Sure, I was thinking "girl" for the first little bit, but for the past month or so I hadn't really been thinking one way or the other. But apparently "girl" must have been stuck in my head deep down there somewhere, because this was a big surprise to me!
Despite my total shock and surprise, I am really happy and excited for our little boy (MAN, that is weird to say!) I am going to have a son. That is weird. I think it would be just as weird to say that I'm going to have a daughter though. Anyway, I am really happy. We went to Target tonight to buy a little boy outfit. I was going to post a picture of it but I can't find one online. It's so fun to imagine a little person of our very own fitting into this tiny little outfit!
We did get a DVD recording of the whole ultrasound, but it is 13 minutes and 38 seconds long. ...I could watch it over and over again, chances are that you, my general audience, won't want to sit through all of that. I plan to edit it down to the highlights and I'll post it later---no guarantees of when I'll do it.
So there you have it, it's a BOY! Congratulations, you're an uncle!

Congratulations! I'm still an aunt, I think. Actually, I heard that it isn't a 50/50 chance everytime. There's a difference between the boy chances and the girl chances, depending on when you ovulate and when you conceive. It's kind of technical, and involves words I don't like to say, but if you want a girl next time there are ways to tip the odds in your favor! Never tried it myself, though.
Yippee!
Natalie and Jack have miniature Jack acomin'! That's awesome. For some reason, I was sure it was a girl too, but you've proved me wrong. Caleb will like having another boy cousin (2nd cousin)to play with. Congrats!

Aww! How exciting! I was expecting a girl for some reason too. But yay for big brothers!!!
Seems like people are having little identity crisis with the "you are an uncle" comment.
Yay for cute little boys:) I bet it feels amazing to know that you are having a son. See you in few days!
YAYAYAY! Where did you go to find that out and guess what?!!?! I watched people do that all afternoon at UVRMC for part of my clinical experience. Too bad I wasn't there for it!
how exciting!! any names yet????
We're very excited to be having a grandson. He'll look so cute in all of those smocked dresses that I have waiting for him in the closet in your room here ;) Actually, don't worry, I am prepared with boy things too :) Yippee, this is SOOOooo
exciting!! Grandmas are allowed to indulge, right?
Yay!! boys are so much fun. I am so happy for you!!!! I did the same thing the day I found out I was having a boy. I went to the store and bought a little blue outfit for my baby. You are going to be such a great mom. I wish we didn't have to wait another 5 months (or so) to see him!
