The Poll is closed

...but there's not a real conclusion yet. Funny, the vote was almost exactly split down the middle. 11 votes for a boy, 12 for a girl, and 1 vote for "no third option." (bytheway, I didn't know 24 different people even read our blog!) The real vote will be in on March 18th when we go for our next ultrasound. I'm excited about that!

On a side note, I really like the game Cribbage. Jack introduced me after playing it with his Grandpa on Monday. Maybe I like it because I've won 2 out of 3 times we've played so far. ...I don't think I was really this way before, or maybe I'm not really like this with other people even now... but I just don't really enjoy playing games (maybe just with Jack??) that I always loose. Take Boggle for example. I really don't think I've ever won a game of Boggle against him. And I don't think I ever will. You may think that is being a little harsh on myself, but once you've played against him, you'll understand. ...unless you're Aaron Dennis.

And another side note (isn't that what blogs are all about??)... I officially used the rubber band trick to do my pants up today. I've been going with the just-leave-it-unbuttoned thing, but it wasn't really working for me today... so I took the advice of pregnant women gone by (thanks, Leslie and Kris) and now have a rubber band looped through my button hole. Am I showing now, you might ask? I can tell. Jack can tell. Those who know me and my status in life might be able to, but I don't think others would be able to. For example, Jack, Jordan, and I went to Motherhood Maternity on Monday. I was trying stuff on and the worker girl said to me, "Umm, are you even...umm...how far along are you?" No, darlin' I'm not pregnant, I'm just here to try on the velcro belly and pretend. Sure, people probably do that...but I was trying on bras. That is NOT something you do for fun. Is that too much information to post on a blog? I did order some stuff online and I'm looking forward to getting a package in 2-7 business days! ...though part of the order is on backorder and won't be shipped for another 1-3 weeks. Bummer. Oh well. Now I'm rambling.
No more.

ok I laughed out loud when I read the Boggle part. Greg LOVES Boggle and he always wants to play it. And he ALWAYS beats me. ???? I don't get it. He comes up with words that I think are made up and then we look them up in the dictionary and they are real. One day I came home and he was playing Boggle by HIMSELF. It is nuts. I have played Boggle more times in the last 4 months than I had ever before in my life.

I am excited to find out about your baby's gender!

My sister bought a bra before the baby and ended up having to go get ones that actually fit her because she "filled out" a little more than anticipated. I have never had a child, but I would recommend one bra to wear home? and then buy the others once your milk comes in? This is too weird.... I just gave my freshman friend advice about buying a nursing bra...

Just ignore me.....

O and I LOVE boggle. I hate losing, but I love learning from people who are better than me.

I know what you mean about playing Boggle against Jack! Yep, I've been there done that, & I defenitely LOST!! He's a Boggle maniac!

I voted for a girl for a couple of reasons. #1. I think the Shirts family needs to even out that boy/girl ratio in the grandchildren department. #2 I want to pass on the cute girl things from Amy that I still have around here. # 3 Girls are just funner to shop for, & being that I'm going to be the doting grandmother ...well, that would just be a plus for you guys. ha :) They have really come out with cute boy stuff now too though, so if the baby is a boy...have no fear, I'll still have fun shopping :) I'm sooooo excited!!!

I thought this post was written by Jack until the bra part. Oops.

I agree about always losing to Jack and Aaron at Boggle--we used to play in the Centennial days. I do like Cribbage, but I think I have learned three times and forgotten three times how to play, so I would need a refresher before I played again. I felt awkward in Motherhood Maternity (underqualified in the belly dept.) We need to shop together for moral support, or just to hang out. I can't believe your next appt is time to do "the ultrasound"!

Love the new blog look!

Okay and "once your milk comes in" is like THE grossest phrase ever.
